# Change how your site looks

Site settings are on the **Settings** tab of the publish page. Admins,
the owner and Site admins can change them. Everyone else can see them.

Like pages, setting changes are staged. They go live the next time
someone [publishes](/public-docs/publish-your-docs). Changed settings are marked
**Not live yet** until then. The one exception is **Let search engines
index this site**, which takes effect straight away.

## Open the settings

Open the public docs brain under **Knowledge** and select **Site
settings** beside its name. Or select **Review & publish** and then the
**Settings** tab.

## What you can set

**Site**

- **Title**: shown in the header and browser tab. Leave it empty to use
  your home page's title.
- **Description**: one or two sentences for search results, shared
  links and `llms.txt`.

**Appearance**

- **Theme**: **ako**, **Quiet** or **Editorial**.
- **Accent colour**: used for links and the current page, as a six-digit
hex colour such as `#3346d3`. ako refuses a colour too light to read on
a white page and suggests a darker one.
- **Logo**: a PNG shown in the header beside your title. Without one, the
header shows your title's first letter.

**Footer**

- **Copyright**, and links to your **Privacy policy** and **Terms**.
  Links must start with `https://`.

**Search engines and sharing**

- **Social image**: the picture shown when someone shares a link to
  your site.
- **Google Search Console** and **Bing Webmaster Tools**: paste the
verification tag each one gives you.

**Integrations**

- **Status page**: linked as "Status" in your footer.

## Your site's address

The **Address** at the top of the tab is where readers find your site.
It comes from your organisation's short name.
