# Your personal brain

Every member except those on the Read role has a personal brain. Use it
for notes, drafts and anything you're not ready to share.

As of 2026-10-14, personal brains are in beta.

## Open it

Go to **Knowledge** and select **Personal**. It's listed first, with a
lock. ako creates it the first time you open it.

To work in it with the assistant, choose **Personal** in the brain
picker beside the message box. See

## Who can see it

Only you. Nobody else in your organisation can open it: not your admins,
and not the organisation's owner. ako staff can't either.

There is one exception. If your organisation receives a formal legal
request, it can ask for an export.

It still belongs to your organisation. If you leave, what's in it passes
to the organisation's owner.

## How it differs from a shared brain

- There's no approval step. Your changes go straight in.
- You can't import files into it yet. Import into another brain instead.
